Here is a comprehensive-ish demo of how to use the Download Mafia bookmarklet with Firefox, Safari, Excel 2004, Excel 2007 and OpenOffice.
This is a rather large and long video and has voiceover instructions, so turn down your volume or put on headphones. Feel free to skip around to the parts relevent to you and I apologize if it takes a while to load. There simply was a lot of important stuff to cover! :)

Some people has reported that bobby heartrates Download Mafia bookmarklet is doing strange things to their mafia, this was fixed a couple of months ago by Daniel: http://keen-computing.co.uk/mwtools/
Also, as a side note to excel and openoffice, I earlier today spent an hour or two conjuring up this script http://djuru.yi.org/Mafiawars/TableGenerator Where you upload a text-file containing your mafia as produced by the DLMafia bookmarklet, and the site produces a table containing your mafia, you sort by clicking the top tabs
DL Mafia is poorly formatted

Something does not work right for me, it appears some of my mafia members show up in the list with their profile picture, promote, send energy, and gift buttons. Have you or anyone else encountered this?

Problems with DL Mafia
I am using FireFox and MS Office Excel 2003 and am experiencing the same problem. It will give me the first 82 members just fine, then it freaks out and adds the promote, send energy and gift options and puts the next 19 people all on one line. Then it goes back to normal again for a while and then freaks out again. I have looked at the FAQ and cannot find an answer to this. I have watched the video (which is excellent BTW) several times just to make sure I didn't miss anything. I have a mafia of over 3400 and REALLY need to use this. Any suggestions? Please help!

That was a great tutorial.
I took the "promote" idea a step further.
Off in the corner of the spreadsheet I pasted the http://heartrate.se/promote/ into cell Q2
in cell M2, I did this:
=hyperlink($Q$2&a2) I referenced the link absolutely so it never changes. This will concatenate the link and the FB id to create a direct link. You must convert it back to a hyperlink using the hyperlink command because upon concat Excel converts it to plain text. You can then copy that formula down the list and automatically have the correct promote link for everyone in yor mafia. You don't have to go outside of excel with copy and pasting and typing extra stuff. One click and you're good.
[EDIT] I've created a spreadsheet that will handle up to 3000 mafia and will automatically create "promote" link, and show you their top mafia ratings and also will color code the highest levels of each position. Anyone interested in a copy can send me an email. I'd be happy to share. It's created in MS Excel 2003.

first let me say ty i havent downloaded this yet but it already looks like it going to be great but i have question for you.
ive been playing mafia wars for about 3 months now and im doing pretty good but i should have sorted my mafia from the
begining but i didnt and now i have no clue what my real friends are doing. so i started to sort them but im finding
this harder then i thought it would be. plus i have about 3000 in my mafia but im close with my one clan which is about 800
stronge now i know i can sort by name and find them by our tag but then from that point in there any way to put them in a
facebook folder
Facebook Friend Groups
Hi Vincent,
It sounds like what you want to do is make some "friend lists" under the Friends menu on Facebook. This will allow you to view the status updates/info for a specific "friend list" instead of everyone all at once. For example, I have a list for Family, High School Friends, Mafia Wars, Local Friends and my FSM clan. You can then put each friend you have into one or more of the lists.
Then on your Facebook home page, on the left, you'll see all your friend lists -- if you click one, it'll show updates from just that specific list and everyone in it!
