How do I find out my or someone else's Facebook ID? What good is the Facebook ID?
Your Facebook ID or someone else's Facebook ID is a string of numbers that identifies you on Facebook.
Finding YOUR Facebook ID:
The simplest way to get your Facebook ID is to click on your Profile button and look at the URL. Where it says ?id=##########, the ###'s are your Facebook ID. You can also right-click where it says Profile and Copy Link Location, then paste it somewhere to pull out the id=#######
For example: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=594878913&ref=profile --> my Facebook ID is 594878913.
Finding SOMEONE ELSE'S Facebook ID:
- If you are on Facebook, but not in Mafia Wars, to find someone else's Facebook ID, right-click on their name or their picture and do Copy Link Location. Now paste it somewhere and look for the id=########'s. The numbers will be their Facebook ID.
For example: http://www.facebook.com/s.php?k=100000080&id=594878913 --> their Facebook ID is 594878913
(Typically that link will take you either to a person's profile page [if their privacy settings allow you to view it] or to a page where you can message them, send them a friend request or view their friends. )
- If you are in Mafia Wars, right-click on their name and do Copy Link Location. Now paste it somewhere and look for the user=######'s. Those numbers will be their Facebook ID.
For example: http://apps.facebook.com/inthemafia/remote/html_server.php?xw_time=1243163205&xw_exp_sig=53945357f7710c5da26aa7252909a8dd&xw_controller=stats&xw_action=view&user=594878913 --> their Facebook ID is 594878913
(Typically that link will take you to their Mafia Wars character profile page.)
Common mistakes:
- A very common mistake people make is to copy-paste their Facebook home page (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home), thinking that because it shows them their Facebook page, that it will show it to everyone else. That link only shows you YOUR Facebook page. If someone else goes there, it shows them THEIR Facebook page! They will not be able to find you using that link.
- Another common mistake is for people to paste their "Join my mafia" status link. You must be friends with someone before they can join your mafia using that link. It is possible to get a Facebook ID from the link, but most people will not have that knowledge, or the inclination to do so if they do know!

Note that this works regardless of whether or not they have their status set, and requires no invitations or having to accept. No more waiting to be invited by someone else, running out of invites, or waiting for someone else to accept your invitation to join your mafia.
