What are Illegal Transaction Records for? How do I get them?

Illegal Transaction RecordsIllegal Transaction Records are loot that you will need in order to perform jobs at higher levels. Do the "Steal Bank Records" job under the Capo job tier to get Illegal Transaction Records (commonly abbreviated as ITRs.) The Capo job tier is unlocked at level 25-43.

Steal Bank Records is a job under the Capo tier

The drop rate of ITRs is not 100%. You may or may not get one when you do the job, but as you master the Capo tier, your chance to loot does go up (credit to Verbaldi's Mafia Wars FAQ.)

Level 1 Job Mastery: Chance to loot
Level 2 Job Mastery: Chance to loot +5%
Level 3 Job Mastery: Chance to loot +10%

You can also send and receive ITRs as gifts, receive them as a random drop when you win a fight, or trade for them with other players. Think twice about trading them away at first though. You might want to hang onto them until you've mastered the Consigliere and Underboss job tiers; by my calculations, it takes at least 453 Illegal Transaction Records to fully master them!

You'll need them for the following jobs:

  • Consigliere Tier - 51 ITRs to get Level 3 Mastery
    • Fix the Big Game
  • Underboss Tier- 402 ITRs required to get Level 3 Mastery
    • Extort a Corrupt Judge
    • Embezzle Funds Through a Phony Company

Fix the Big Game gives 6% towards mastery each time you do it, and it requires 1 ITR each time. This means you'll need at least 51 ITRs total to get Level 3 Mastery, 17 for each level.

Extort a Corrupt Judge only gives 1% towards mastery each time you do it, and it requires 1 ITR each time. This means you'll need at least 300 ITRs total to get Level 3 mastery, 34 for each level.

Embezzle Funds Through a Phony Company gives 3% mastery each time you do it, and it requires 1 ITR each time.This means you'll need at least 102 ITRs total to get Level 3 mastery, 34 for each level.
