What are Untraceable Cell Phones for? How do I get them?

Untraceable Cell Phones are loot that you will need in order to perform jobs at higher levels. Do the "Rob an Electronics Store" job under the Enforcer job tier to get them. The Enforcer job tier is unlocked at level 13-17.

(Handy hint: If you put your mouse over the gold-colored icon where it says Chance to Loot, a small text box will pop up and tell you what loot you've got a chance of getting. See the screenshot below.)  

The drop rate of Untraceable Cell Phones is not 100%. The Rob an Electronics Store job can also drop Concealable Cameras and Computer Set-Ups and you can only get up to 1 item (if any.) Therefore, you may have to do the job several times before getting an Untraceable Cell Phone. As you master the Enforcer tier, your chance to loot something does go up though (credit to Verbaldi's Mafia Wars FAQ.)

Level 1 Job Mastery: Chance to loot
Level 2 Job Mastery: Chance to loot +5%
Level 3 Job Mastery: Chance to loot +10%

You can also send and receive Untraceable Cell Phones as gifts, receive them as a random drop when you win a fight, or trade for them with other players. Think twice about trading them away at first though. You might want to hang onto them until you've mastered the Capo, Consigliere and Underboss job tiers; by my calculations, it takes at least 234 Untraceable Cell Phones to fully master them!

  • Capo Tier - 96 Phones required to get Level 3 Mastery
    • Flip a Snitch
    • Dodge an FBI Tail
  • Consigliere Tier - 36 Phones required to get Level 3 Mastery
    • Ransom a Businessman's Kids
  • Underboss Tier - 102 Phones required to get Level 3 Mastery
    • Order a Hit on a Public Official

Flip a Snitch gives 7% towards mastery each time you do it, and it requires 1 phone each time. This means you'll need at least 45 phones total to get Level 3 Mastery, 15 for each level.

Dodge an FBI Tail gives 6% towards mastery each time you do it, and it requires 1 phone each time. This means you'll need at least 51 phones total to get Level 3 Mastery, 17 for each level.

Ransom a Businessman's Kids gives 9% towards mastery each time you do it, and it requires 1 phone each time. This means you'll need at least 36 phones total to get Level 3 Mastery, 12 for each level.

Order a Hit on a Public Official only gives 3% towards mastery each time you do it, and it requires 1 phone each time. This means you'll need at least 102 phones total to get Level 3 Mastery, 34 for each level.
